I went to the Knitting & Stitching Show in Harrogate yesterday. Here are some of the wonderful artworks on view.
Christina Ellcock's work
inspired by the coast.
One of nine of Sally Skaife's oyster pictures.
Debbie Lyddon, Liminal Objects: Sea Purses 4, 2016 (linen, wire, saltwater).
From the Gawthorpe Textiles Collection
Cushion cover by Annie Eastwood, 1923.
Unfinished miniature hexagonal patchwork with beading.
Jan Beaney and Jean Littlejohn have
a huge exhibition space filled with their art works, books, DVDs and
their sketchbooks and samples.
Sketchbook pages and samples
Bracket Fungi Sample by Jan Beaney
Sue Stone's "Do You Remember Me?" 63 self portraits, one for each year of the artist's life.
An exhibition space filled with textile art on the theme of nature.
Annette Collinge, Petworth I and IIJanet Edmonds', Browns Place
Diana Springall, Cornus Aurea in Winter at Leeds Castle
Another major feature of The Show is the huge variety of stands selling everything textile-related: yarns, threads, tools, antique textiles, books. I really could have spent a fortune on beautiful supplies 'just-in-case', but managed to limit myself to some sashiko thread and needles and a piece of Japanese fabric in dark indigo, from Japan Crafts, four books from Jan Beaney and Jean Littlejohn, plus a bag of colourful thread ends from Oliver Twists.
Thank you for your lovely photos, did they have any knitted garments on show or for sale?
ReplyDeleteive visted Harrogate and Gawthorpe Hall many times and also Towneley Hall in Burnley where the Whalleys abbey vestments are held.
Thank you Julia :)
