1950's Home Decorating Ideas

From Number 40  April 1956 and Number 45 September 1956 issues of Pins and Needles magazine.

Curtains made from Bath Towels, trimmed with white cotton fringe and fish cut from cretonne (thick upholstery fabric), padded and then appliqued in position.
Here is proof of what can be done with ingenuity and colour. No structural alterations were made and this transformation was carried out by a clever young couple of do-it-yourselfers.
In 1956 this room was furnished for just £25, it contains 10 items of furniture all made from plans from various issues of Pins and Needles magazine.
