I recently had the opportunity to buy a huge lot of buttons. I don't normally deal in buttons but this was a fun way for me to learn a little more about them. I now have several lots of buttons for sale in my store that I hopefully have grouped to appeal to collectors and crafters alike.
The dress below was made by a customer of mine using Butterick pattern B5281, a green buckle which was purchased from purplestevie at ebid (http://uk.ebid.net/items/purplestevie) and 2 buttons made by her husband.
"The buttons were actually made by my husband (with a bit of help from me of course!). You can buy something similar – I think they’ve got a French name – and I’d seen some but didn’t want to pay the price. So we used Russia braid – but the real secret was the rubber washer (which came off the eyelets for the tent) – I just knew they’d come in handy one day!!"
