Vintage collar studs

Possibly dating back to 1827 a Hannah Montague from Troy New York cut off the collar off one of her husbands shirts to wash it, and then sewed it back on.

A Rev Ebenezar Brown a businessman in the town commercialized the idea and detachable collars became a significant industry in Troy.
