Bridal wear Vintage & Modern

Recently i visited the Craven museum In Skipton North Yorkshire where i saw this beautiful 1930's cream satin wedding dress with hand painted flowers and beadwork.
The dress was worn by Lady Bulmer of Hanith Hall and later given to her Housekeeper for her daughter's wedding. What a kind gesture.

I have 2 1980's uncut wedding dress patterns for sale

Patchwork, Embroidery and Weaving Exhibition

My husband, Rob, and I went to the Gracefield Arts Centre in Dumfries this week, where an exhibition called "A Trio of Textiles" is being held 21 April - 12 May 2012.

The exhibition includes work by local artists and crafts people in the disciplines of embroidery, weaving and patchwork & quilting.

Sadly, I forgot my camera, but Rob lent my his phone camera to take a few snaps.

These chocolates were lovely - felt, decorated with beads and embroidery, in a handmade paper box.

This wall hanging is made of felted wool. The colours, patterns and textures are beautiful.

I am very fond of miniatures, so this tiny, embroidered rug caught my eye.

There were dozens of patchwork quilts, artworks, bags, and toys etc to see.

Back in the weaving exhibition, we both loved these woven wall hangings - unfortunately this poor quality photo does not do the colours justice. I bought some hand dyed fabric and cotton embroidery thread from this artist.

This exhibition is well worth a visit. Entry is free, and there is a cafe and a craft shop to enjoy afterwards.

Spring is here

Spring has Sprung

Despite the sprinkling of snow we have recently received in my area, I am beginning to see some true signs of spring.  The grass is green and the flowers are blooming.  Best of all the baby animals are starting to appear.  Even the human kind are experiencing the outdoors for the first time.  Since I have been seeing so many babies lately, I thought I would offer some great baby inspired items for sale.

Morning all, from a sunny, if rather 'fresh', Southern Scotland!

Here are some of the latest buttons added to Love Buttons HQ.

First up are two similar vintage plastic buttons, made from a translucent, shimmering green and white plastic. The embedded swirling pattern resembles a rose or spiral. These are large, 40mm diameter buttons. They cost £4.00 for the pair.

Next is a card of mixed two tone buttons, including three Art Deco pieces. The buttons are all a very dark blue (blue-black) and white. They cost £3.00 for the card of six buttons.

Finally, a lovely, chunky vintage plastic button in the shape of a steering wheel. This particular piece was part of the stock of a French gentleman who used to sell these buttons in a market in France 30/40 years ago.  This button costs £1.50.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, folks!
