General Nursing Council for England and Wales Button


The General Nursing Council was established by the the Nurses Registration Act of 1919.  It was set up to compile and maintain a register of qualified nurses and to act as the disciplinary authority of the profession. 

The makers of this button were Boyd Cooper of 4 George street, Hanover Square W1. - Boyd Copper was established in 1780. They were the official makers of the State Registered Uniforms.

In 1925 the price of a Gaberdine Frock Coat was £4 - 15 shillings and  for a Coat and Skirt £5 - 10 shillings.
